So the Summer 2014 Photo Contest is officially over, and we can announce the winners.
First of all, a huge thanks to everyone who participated and who voted – your engagement is very much appreciated!
Sliding in at third place with 18% of the votes is ‘Kids in Arms’, an unbelievably cute shot that actually comes from someone very dear to my heart, an old university friend of mine named Catherine. Hope you had a fabulous summer, young lady, and here’s to many more summers at lakes, wherever they may be.
In second position is ‘Girl Underwater,” with 25% of the votes, coming from a very good man named John Mitton. I love underwater shots, and this one captures the sensations of summer perfectly. Thanks, John, for a great contribution.
And the winner is: I admit, when I’ve run these competitions before I’ve sometimes been in disagreement with the finalists, but this time the evocative power of this shot had me cheering it on – so here it is the winner of the 2014 Summer Photo Contest, with 38% of the total vote…’Boy Surfer’!
This one comes from Dave Werbinski, and is simply a lovely shot of his son about to make a foray into a new world, which is always a marvelous thing.
Again, thanks so much to all who contributed and to all who took the time to vote. Dave can expect a surprise gift in the mail in the near future, so be on the lookout for that!
Until our next photo competition, keep shooting away, and we can’t wait to see what you come up with next time around.
Summer is a fun time for children. Beautifully captured in these photos.
