The FNFF Summer 2013 Photo Contest is Over, and the WINNER IS…

First of all, thanks once again to everyone who sent in their shots – we had an amazing batch this time around and I’m grateful to all who took the time to send in their photos, and to everybody who spent some time checking out the competition and casting their vote.

In third place, with 8% of the vote, is ‘Sunset harbor’ from Lisa at NW Frame of Mind. I really liked this one for the leading lines, the reflections, and the contrast. Well done Lisa!

We actually have a tie for second place, with Brad’s shot of his daughter jumping into a Florida pool – a photo made interesting by the unusual angle and the suspended action – and ‘View from the window, Corwall,’ sent in by Dean B, both getting exactly 16.75% of the vote. Brad is an old university friend of mine, so I’m glad that so many folks enjoyed this one, and Dean has a great blog called ‘Little Steps‘ which you should definitely check out.

And here it is, the winning image with a whopping 40% of the vote, which comes from David, who I’m sure is absolutely flabbergasted that he’s won, since he claims to be no photographer, just ‘a dad with a camera.’ Obviously this one touched a chord, though, so maybe David should start getting shots ready for our next competition!

Well, this was a lot of fun, and I’m sure that we’ll be having another one of these contests down the line – after Christmas, perhaps. In the interim, look out for another installment in the series on expat living, some posts about travel in Spain, and more of my sidelong views on life with kids.

Cheers from FNFF!

  2. I loved entering the last photo challenge, and I’m sorry I didn’t make it to this one, but the thought of looking through all my summer photos was too scary. If you do a Christmas one, I promise to bemore efficient 😉 I love the winning photo – the colours and movement are wonderful.

  3. Wow! Flabbergasted may not cover it. 😉 Our daughter (9) was completely thrilled (hey dad…that’s me!!) to see herself on your site.

Along with Lisa, thank you again, for sharing your blog and making it possible to see some wonderful summertime moments.
